A Guide To Ending Summer Right

Labor Day Last Minute Trip

Being the procrastinating urbanite that I am, this summer has come and

gone with little opportunity for a summertime jaunt. Needing a trip to cap off the summer on a high note, and an excuse to use my luggage and travel accessories, a Labor Day weekend trip is in order. With our luxury carryon packed with all the white ensembles we can manage, we’re counting down until the weekend!

The Challenge: A long weekend is a great window of time to experience picturesque scenery, inventive food samplings, and to explore new cultures. The conundrum of a trip during this time is that you will inadvertently bump into many people from whom you were seeking a weekend’s respite.

The Solution: City and suburban dwellers alike who prefer the quiet seclusion of a small town to the bustle of city life, will immensely enjoy the city of Beacon, New York. An hours drive from Manhattan, and far from the congested Hamptons, Beacon is a great summer trip alternative. A haven for art with appealing exhibits, beautiful scenic riverside strolls, and host to various musical and food related events; the options of what to do in Beacon are quite limitless.

Try: If you can only visit for the day, we highly recommend touring Dia:Beacon. Dia Art Foundation displays art ranging from multi-media, painting, sculpture, and photography. Exploring the exhibits or sitting in for a poetry reading is reason enough to go to Beacon.
