When you’re adamant about traveling carry-on only for your next business trip, the highs and lows of weather can present a packing challenge. Let’s take a trip to Palm Springs, California for 3 nights and 4 days and fit it all into your carry-on.

If you’re looking to dress casual but professional during the day with an added touch of trend in the evening, look to layering and double-duty items. We like to start our packing process by building piles of the essentials – under garments, sleepwear and workout gear, beauty and tech essentials. Next, plan your outfits. Design each look by determining which pieces can be worn twice. A legging worn on flight can also be worn for a workout. A blouse for a dinner meeting can be worn again on the return flight home. A sleeveless top can serve as your mid-day work look when the temperature is soaring and appear again under a wrap sweater or fitted jacket, as the evening turns cooler. A crisp white shirt is always a work winner and transitions to evening with the addition of a statement necklace and paired with a long skirt. When it comes to carry-on packing – get creative, think outside of the wardrobe and like Coco Chanel when it comes to accessorizing, pare down before you complete your look. Less is more!
